As radical progressives, we do not believe in many of President Joe Biden’s politics or policies, but we also believe in the American promise. In the idea that a country of diverse and ideologically disparate people can come together to create a better world for every American and their families. And to repair the pain, trauma, and inequities that American institutions have wrought on indigenous people and people of the global majority, at home and abroad.

This will not happen under a Trump presidency. We know that.

Promise 2025 is a series of Executive Orders that President Joe Biden can sign to not only honor the best vision of our country, but to move his policies enough to the left to get out of his own way. We want to see the end of the two-party system, but not at the cost of worldwide and domestic bloodshed should a Trump presidency have its second iteration.

Quite simply, too many more people will die. Quite simply, too many already have.

We ask that you join us by adding your signature where we hope President Joe Biden will add his. Our democracy is not being jeopardized by executive authority; our democracy has never truly existed. In his remaining years, this is President Joe Biden’s opportunity to set things right, and to leave the nation not in war, or tatters, or to Trump, but to enshrine important protections to keep our communities and families safe and living the true promise of what America can be.

Those executive orders will be: the banning of the manufacturing and importation of assault weapons (June), enshrining abortion as a civil right (July), funding slavery reparations through the federal tax code system (August), and you tell us what the last order should be - setting an age limit for the presidency, expanding the Supreme Court, etc. We recognize that many if not all of these orders will be challenged, and perhaps overturned, but without an aggressive strategy to save American democracy, we will find ourselves not with Promise 2025, but with Project 2025.

Together, we will demand that President Biden use his Executive authority not only as a clear sign that he respects the will of the people being asked to vote for him, but ensuring that progressives can show up to vote in November with authenticity and energy to prevent a second Trump presidency.
